Since 2021, Eptoscore is providing technical and advisory services on an ongoing basis to PT SMM in Indonesia.
The main objective of the services is to review the performance of the existing, 500 tons per hour coal handling and preparation plant (CHPP), with the aim of identifying the bottlenecks and providing solutions to achieve the designed annual production capacity of 3.0 million tons of ROM feed whilst achieving the desired yield and product ash quality.
During 2021, our team successfully reviewed and assessed the existing operations and performance of the CHPP and identified two main areas of improvement:
- Implementation of a dedicated maintenance management system to improve the overall CHPP availability consisting of:
- routine equipment inspections in accordance with OEM specifications;
- developing and implementing an overall CHPP maintenance philosophy including planned shutdown strategy, equipment and component replacement and refurbishment strategy; and
- planning and managing resources, spare parts and rotational refurbishments.
- Stabilisation (Step 1) and optimisation (Step 2) of the overall plant instantanuous throughput (production) and process control as a function of the prevailing feed varying material conditions.
Together with the operations and maintenance team of PT SMM, Eptoscore successfully implemented the dedicated maintenance management system as well as stabilised and optimised the overall plant production and process control.
The results were achieved by utilising the state-of-the-art Data Platform developed by Eptoscore and applied at PT SMM in conjunction with the custom designed and implemented OPC UA based process dashboard and historian. The Data Platform enables PT SMM to quickly and effectively interpret live and historial production, process and maintenance data resulting in effective decision making and implementation.
